Every morning I go to this hawker right in front of our apartment complex at River Valley Rd to get my fix of Kopi and leech of some unprotected WiFi. Of course places like this have their regulars – of which I guess I am now one of – and one in particular always stands out.

Meet Uncle Cough

I call him Uncle Cough because he's a chain smoker and now and then has these terrible attacks of having to cough almost endlessly and even up to a point where most other people at this hawker look up to see if it is his last right there and then.

So the other day I noticed a poster on the other side of this block and it looks like this whole block is going to have to be demolished to make room for condos. To me it seems a shame since this whole block has hawkers and restaurants that are always crowded. And where's Uncle Cough to go?

Thursday July 17th there was a reception at Objectifs, the centre where I took the Intermediate Photography Course for 6 weeks. The exhibition shows the work done by the students during their courses. From my class there were only 2 participants of which one is me. Quite a few people turned up for the reception. Maybe it had to do with the food that was served? :-)

I've been busy! Yes indeed. Apart from getting adjusted to a new country and its customs and climate, going on a 5 day trip to Bangkok I have also been keeping myself busy doing some work at home. Created a business card, put up a website for Popel and edited some of the other older sites I still maintain. And last but certainly not least: I got an iMac!!!

And I have been playing with it ever since I unpacked and installed it. I think I have my work flow set up ready to go now. Still using Komodo Edit for XHTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP. Transferred all the important data from my old desktop PC (which typically died a few days later only to be mysteriously resurrected the day after). So I am ready. Bring it on! :-)
