Every morning I go to this hawker right in front of our apartment complex at River Valley Rd to get my fix of Kopi and leech of some unprotected WiFi. Of course places like this have their regulars – of which I guess I am now one of – and one in particular always stands out.

Meet Uncle Cough

I call him Uncle Cough because he's a chain smoker and now and then has these terrible attacks of having to cough almost endlessly and even up to a point where most other people at this hawker look up to see if it is his last right there and then.

So the other day I noticed a poster on the other side of this block and it looks like this whole block is going to have to be demolished to make room for condos. To me it seems a shame since this whole block has hawkers and restaurants that are always crowded. And where's Uncle Cough to go?
